What is Actonel used for?

Risedronate belongs to a class of drugs called bisphosphonates. It works by:
Inhibiting osteoclast activity, the cells responsible for bone breakdown
Preserving bone mineral density (BMD)
Reducing the risk of fractures, particularly in the spine and hip
By binding to bone minerals, Actonel helps maintain bone strength and prevent further deterioration in conditions such as osteoporosis.

Take first thing in the morning, at least 30 minutes before food or drink (except water)
Swallow whole with a full glass of plain water (not mineral water)
Stay upright for at least 30 minutes after taking to prevent oesophageal irritation
